Power Quality Lab

How can sampled AC waveforms reveal power-quality problems?

Completed · Tested · 2026

Context

It turns sampled voltage and current into reproducible engineering evidence while documenting the gap between simulation and a safe, calibrated physical instrument.

Design problem

How can sampled AC waveforms reveal power-quality problems?

Approach

Preserve simultaneous voltage and current samples; interpolate positive-going zero crossings for frequency; classify against explicit thresholds.

Validation

Deterministic synthetic waveforms, explicit classification thresholds, and a public unittest suite.

Result

A reproducible report of electrical measurements and the classified condition for each synthetic scenario.

Limitations

Simulation only. ADC quantization, isolation, harmonics, calibration drift, and electrical safety are not modeled.

What I would improve next

A hardware extension would need isolated sensing and calibration in a safe low-voltage test setup.

Repository & documentation
